Water safety advocate calls for lifeguards at Wasaga Beach

A former Wasaga Beach lifeguard has launched a high-profile campaign to lobby for lifeguards to return to the longest freshwater beach in the world.

John Watt and his wife, Elaine Tanner, have purchased billboard space on Hwy. 26, and launched a website (bringbacklifeguards.com) to lobby both the municipality and the province to implement a lifeguard program. Watt said he launched the campaign after what he saw as 20 years of inaction by both the municipality and the province.
