An article published in 2015 on Simcoe.com highlighted many of John Watt’s concerns about Wasaga Beach safety. It pointed out the weaknesses in the replacement beach safety program as well as briefly describing the program that was formerly in place. Sadly, current beach administration feels signs warning that there are no lifeguards is enough. “We had a system … we would react within seconds,” he said. “When you have an offshore breeze, the wind blows them off, they panic, they realize they are in 10 feet of water and they drown. We would watch for this every single day, we were trained for it.” John Watt said.
